First single off the new She & Him album. It’s a cheery delight, and I would expect nothing less — a good song of the day for this rainy Thursday.

September - St. Lucia

Seriously, though. Yesterday it was bikini weather. Today it’s fucking winter again. Make up your mind, Los Angeles!

This is the best song in the world. Listen to it right now.

HAIM - DON’T SAVE ME

Songs like this make L.A. traffic a little easier to stomach, for some reason. I think because it’s a little bit upbeat and a little bit 80’s, and something about driving in LA will always remind me of 80’s cinema. While I  try and unpack the reasoning behind that, you can enjoy this song. [Thanks to my friend Dan for sending.]

I listen to all Haim, all the time. You should too.

The songs on this playlist are, in my opinion, some of the best of what’s currently out in new music (with some Fleetwood Mac thrown in). I’ve got them all on repeat, and I feel like if you don’t already know about St. Lucia, MS MR, Icona Pop, Mr Little Jeans, Tennis, Foxygen, Summer Camp, Tanlines, Haim, Diamond Rings… well then it is my duty to inform you. Enjoy!

So I’ve definitely mentioned my new favorite band MS MR before, but here’s a friendly reminder to check them out with their new single, because I promise you will fall in love. Lizzie Plapinger’s voice is like if Florence Welch smoked cigarettes (but in a good way. Can there be a good way to smoke cigarettes? I don’t know, just listen and you’ll get what I’m saying).

Also a bunch of cheerleaders vomit in glitter in this music video, which is awesome.

FIRST AID KIT - EMMYLOU : NASHVILLE, “I’ve Been Down That Road Before”
The first time I heard First Aid Kit was back in 2008 when they covered Fleet Foxes Tiger Mountain Peasant Song. I recall stopping dead because I was so in love with Fleet Foxes at the time and these chicks had actually made it sound BETTER, which seemed impossible. Four years later I’m glad to see they’ve stayed true to their sound. Rolling Stone called Emmylou one of the best tracks of 2012 and they definitely have a point. I find it’s sweet simplicity refreshing when juxtaposed to what others are creating these days. It just feels honest.

Yes yes yes yes. i LOVE “First Aid Kit!” I was so excited when they were on Nashville last week!

This Mr. Little Jeans cover of “The Suburbs,” one of my favorite Arcade Fire jams, is outstanding.

So my favorite YouTube sensation and sisters are back with a new song and it is GREAT. Obviously.

Lennon & Maisy - “Bright Side” (Acoustic) | On Air with Ryan Seacrest (by ryanseacrest)

I don’t know how I didn’t notice until just now, but Jay Z name drops “Khaleesi” in this jam. So now I’m just imagining Jay Z and Beyonce watching Game of Thrones together after Blue Ivy goes to bed and getting like, all worked up about those dragons and Jon Snow and how Joffrey is such a little shit.
