Republican: I will vote for Obama - Santa Clara County Democratic Party - Democratic Party of Silicon Valley
This story is amazing. Truly. Read it.
It makes me feel so much more justified when I jokingly say “I miss normal Republicans.” The thing is, I really do. It’s just that the Republican Party of today is so much more extreme than that of what our forefathers envisioned. I think there are still some normal Republicans out there, the ones we need, the ones who balance out the Democrats, which is the point of bipartisanship in the first place, but their voices are getting smothered to make way for extremist platforms, and then adapted by a misinformed populace. I think Mitt Romney could have been a normal Republican and I think a lot of normal Republicans had hoped for that. I hope they see that he’s not, however, and I hope they remember that when they vote today.
old white dudes making decisions about vaginas is like taking me to NASA & letting me decide how to run maintenance on a fucking space ship.

Obama Revelation of the Day: In Pulitzer Prize-winner David Maraniss’ new book, Barack Obama: The Story, we get quite the insight into the president’s bullying, pot-smoking past. Money quote:
Barry also had a knack for interceptions. When a joint was making the rounds, he often elbowed his way in, out of turn, shouted “Intercepted!,” and took an extra hit. No one seemed to mind.

I mean, I love our president so much.
Breaking News of the Day: Obama Backs Gay Marriage: [UPDATED] President Obama has publicly announced his support for gay marriage in an interview today with Robin Roberts.
I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or Marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.
Obama, who is the first U.S. president to openly back gay marriage, had come under fire this week for remaining mum on the subject after Joe Biden and Arne Duncan publicly declared their support. The president’s announcement comes a day after North Carolina voted in favor of a constitutional amendment that bans marriage equality.
Obama’s interview will appear on ABC’s Good Morning America on Thursday. Excerpts will air tonight on ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer.
