WHY THIS MATTERS: NBA PLAYER JASON COLLINS COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET
I don’t normally do the more serious “think-pieces” for Hello Giggles but one of the editors asked me to yesterday (maybe because I’ve written about my love of basketball before? I’m guessing there aren’t a lot of HG contributors willing to tackle a sports topic), so I jotted down some of my thoughts, although I will admit I wrote this after a 12-hour workday so I’m not sure if this is all that coherent (and i have yet to re-read it, so… wow is this a great endorsement of my own work, or what?). But I would love to hear what you guys think!
Required reading, you guys.
First single off the new She & Him album. It’s a cheery delight, and I would expect nothing less — a good song of the day for this rainy Thursday.
She & Him - Never Wanted Your Love [official audio] (by SheandHimOfficial)
HEY! Do you guys remember when I would write letters to inanimate objects on a weekly basis over at HelloGiggles? Well, I’ve got a new one up, and it’s all about whiteboards. Yes, whiteboards. Now, read it and then tell me what other things I should write letters to. Seriously — I want to write posts you want to read! So suggestions are welcome!
This one’s a no-brainer: watch GIRLS on HBO tonight at 9pm, because you already do, but especially because one of my closest friends, the lovely and amazing Sarah Heyward (aka @shinyunicorn on Twitter and tweenysomething on tumblr) co-wrote the episode with Lena and I have a feeling it’s going to be damn funny and amazing, just like Sarah is! (Yes, Sarah is the one who often pops up on my Instagram and tumblr as we live just three blocks away from each other and spend an excessive amount of time at each others’ houses and staring lovingly into the adorable eyes of her dog Pixie, who has a permanent dog bed at my house. She’s amazing, I love her, and you should too).
loving the hellogiggles redesign
Congrats Zooey, Molly and Sophia — what a GREAT redesign. Seriously. It reminds me how bummed I am that I haven’t had time to post a new Open Letter or Stamos Story Hour or Tech Talk or List of Stuff in a while — the crazy job hours and other projects have me drowning in work at the moment.
BUT — and that’s a big but — if I were to get into it again, what kind of stuff would you guys like to see me posting and writing about over at HG?
WOAH. Paul Scheer is writing for HelloGiggles? Good work girls.
Open Letters: AN OPEN LETTER TO MY HAIR STRAIGHTENER

The hair straightener is the best thing to happen to female self-esteem since the underwire bra, gay BFFs, & Tina Fey.
THE STAMOS STORY HOUR: A Love Affair With Pizza
In case you forgot for all of three minutes, I LOVE PIZZA.
Chelsea Handler To Produce Comedy For NBC Created By And Starring Ingrid Haas | Deadline
I know Ingrid through HelloGiggles (she hosted the first UCB show I participated in) but we’re also birthday twins, she’s been in a play with my brother, and she is all around one of the sweetest and nicest and hardworking girls I’ve met in LA. I’m so happy for her and I think this is just SUCH a big deal and so exciting for all aspiring female writers/actresses. Yay Ingrid!
One Woman's Trash is Another Woman's Treasure Troll!
Probably my favorite punny title I’ve come up with for a HelloGiggles article to date. But more importantly, remember all those pics I was posting from Cliff’s Antique Market? Check out this article to read all about the goods I found!
I loved this post and I totally feel ya, Maude.
Abby's Leftovers
Major blog recommendation coming your way! Abby’s Leftovers is written by a good family friend of mine, Abby Diaz, and it is seriously amazing and a must-read for your blogroll.
Abby is a mom to two adorable kids and has an amazing sense of humor, dry wit, and is kind of a brilliant writer all around. She posts once every morning and everything she writes is always so great, and almost guaranteed to make you laugh. HelloGiggles fans will especially like her, I think, but also just about anyone will like her stuff — both my brother and dad are avid readers of Abby’s blog as well! So go check it out and start following her daily musings. Go now!
This week’s HelloGiggles post is “TECH TALKS: Nerd Alert! On Being a Fangirl and Making Internet Friends” and it is all about how I love The X-Files and how making friends on the internet is totally cool. And I wrote it before this entire Duchovny/Anderson rumor happened so it’s kind of like I willed their love affair into being.
