I was working in development at Fox Television Studios, which is a sister studio to 20th Century Fox and had gotten to know a handful of execs over at 20th, which is the studio that did THE FINDER and BONES. It also helped that I knew the showrunner’s assistant, as well as other writers on the show (from when they had written on an FTVS show I covered). And it definitely helped that I had all my co-workers at FTVS pushing for me to get a job in a writers room, because it was just before I actually got that job that I decided I wanted to be a writer myself! I had a really supportive boss at the time who gave me great notes on my first pilot and really helped me figure out that if I wanted to try being a TV writer I should just go for it. And it worked out!
