Tuesday Ratings: 'New Girl' Does Well, Outscores 'Glee' | TV Line

It’s an adorkable hit. Fox’s Zooey D lead comedy hit 10.1 million viewers with a 4.7 demo rating, a vast improvement over Raising Hope last year. Even more impressive is it built upon Glee’s lead in (rather than falling off like most shows do). Ryan Murphy’s tuner only notched 8.7 million viewers and a 3.8 rating.

CBS took the night in total viewers (obviously) with their procedurals. NCIS saw 19.5 million and a 4.2, NCIS: LA followed with 16.7 mil and a 3.6 while new drama Unforgettable earned 14 million and a 2.9.

After all my skepticism about them releasing the New Girl pilot online weeks in advance, the strategy seems to have worked and not cannibalized the premiere at all.

Congrats Zooey and everyone at New Girl !!!! (Aka our Fox lot next door neighbors!) This is exciting news for lady comics everywhere. And just like, chicks in general. And like, people. So what I mean here is that it’s just great, okay?
