(Which did happen to me, by the way).

I too am an entitled female 20something

For every Lena Dunham and Emma Koenig there’s another wannabe waiting in the wings. I’m just as much of an entitled female 20something as those girls — I mean aren’t most of us? I like to think my entitlement comes from having a college degree and being raised by parents who taught me to believe that I could have it all, and they wanted to help me achieve that — whatever that “all” might be. My life has come with ups and downs, with moments of hardship — just like anyone else. Whatever. I work hard, and I imagine those girls work hard too, perhaps harder. In fact I know they work hard. You cannot achieve success without working hard. Even Kim Kardashian works hard. She does. Go watch an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and you’ll see. It’s a different kind of work but she’s doing it. All the time. She’s just as entitled as any other young women of this generation who comes from a certain degree of privilege, and even those who don’t.

You know, sometimes it is the so-called “entitlement” of all the 20something young women out there that drives others to work hard in the first place. I am thankful for women like Lena Dunham and Emma Koenig. Good for these girls for taking the world they know and the life they know and the medium they know to tell their story and to find success doing it. We should all be so lucky to be so hard-working. I too am an entitled female 20something and it’s what motivates me every day. If I want something that I think I deserve, then I must prove myself and my desire to have that something. I must work for it.
